Flickr publishes its official application for iPhone

The Flickr for iPhone application lets you get everything Scores on your cellphone, from your photos, your contacts, groups, search, browse the Explore … In short, it’s supposed to be the mobile version of Flickr on steroids and without the possibility of save the images.
But what will surely be more interesting for all Flickr users is that they can upload images directly from your application, with the option to add it to galleries, add tags, description and title.
The application is free, but something that strikes me is why this application. If you have an iPhone and you are a Flickr user know that Flickr has a mobile version very well assembled, perfect for Android and iPhone. What I can not understand is why spend so much effort for an application that does the same.
Obviously before you could only upload images via email or with other applications. Personally I prefer that these services development pushed in more versions to web applications, or at least do as other web services, to launch both a single application for multiple platforms.
