Late last year Nokia showcased the work he was doing in handwriting recognition focused on its use with the calculator, launching the Calculator application in beta Handwriting.

Now this application and leave the beta becomes official. In fact it is more a formality than anything else, as from mid of this year and was available for download from the Store and Ovi has offered pre-installed on the N97 and 5530 XpressMusic have been sold in China.

So if we want to do math in a much more intuitive than the usual calculator our mobile Handwriting Calculator is a good option.

The Flickr for iPhone application lets you get everything Scores on your cellphone, from your photos, your contacts, groups, search, browse the Explore … In short, it’s supposed to be the mobile version of Flickr on steroids and without the possibility of save the images.

But what will surely be more interesting for all Flickr users is that they can upload images directly from your application, with the option to add it to galleries, add tags, description and title.

The application is free, but something that strikes me is why this application. If you have an iPhone and you are a Flickr user know that Flickr has a mobile version very well assembled, perfect for Android and iPhone. What I can not understand is why spend so much effort for an application that does the same.

Obviously before you could only upload images via email or with other applications. Personally I prefer that these services development pushed in more versions to web applications, or at least do as other web services, to launch both a single application for multiple platforms.

Just above the entrance to speak on an application for Android Tuenti available about Facebook’s hand and we hear the news that Apple has already approved the latest version of Facebook 3.0 for iPhone.

It is one of the simplest and, in turn, worked, of those available for the terminal block, with much better use of social network against its mobile version. Although not incorporate all the features of the site, it offers virtually everything you need.

Faced with earlier versions have incorporated many of the innovations that Facebook has been incorporated, so that we can vote news and updates, access mail, filter reviews, … Its interface has changed a lot, providing a customizable home screen, from which you can access the different options and even add contacts or access to pages.

As before, Facebook 3.0 is completely free and is available for download on the App Store. In future versions will incorporate also the possibility to activate notifications notify us of developments in our stream.

When creating their mobile phones, Samsung has never had problems choose different operating systems depending on the needs of the moment or who was directed to each specific model. Thus, from proprietary systems have been used to Windows Mobile (Samsung Omnia), Android (Samsung Galaxy) or S60 (Samsung i8910).

But do not feel averse to other systems or even to develop other self, this time based on Linux, as confirmed by Dong-hoon Chan, responsible for design of mobile terminals. When ready, do you paint or you will be based on some pre-existing system has not asserted.

It seems strange that disposing of Android, which is based on Linux, deciding to develop your own again, but seeing as Nokia has reinvented itself with N900 and Maemo 5, maybe this is a strategy that will bear fruit in the future .

Chumby creator wants to export to other digital home gadgets. Brand executives are in talks with manufacturers like Samsung or Sony for their televisions, stereos or more players take the Chumby applications and possibilities of the original.

The first product to hit the market with the hand of the creators behind Chumby is a digital photo frame. Data synchronization with social sites like Twitter and Facebook in addition to intuitive access to places where we have photos stored online will be his strong point.

Internet radio or the weather or traffic will be another attraction of this digital photo frame that is coming. And hopefully the spirit of Chumby is maintained and the users themselves can create and distribute their own applications.

Although not everyone has moved to new versions of Microsoft Office, it is easy to find documents in OpenXML format by the network. And we do not always have a way to view it. With OpenXML Document Viewer Extension Firefox we have a lot easier. Now we can easily read .docx, or .xlsx extension.

This extension for Firefox we will convert the OpenXML documents to HTML format, so they are viewable from the computer. He does, moreover, keeping as much as possible the format of the original document, with the font types, images, styles, tables, links, …

This is an early version they want to improve for next year, when it will further enhance the process of converting documents to obtain more similar to the original, will increase the processing speed and reliability and will provide support for other browser such as Opera .

It’s available for Firefox 3 and has been tested in both Windows and Linux.

That’s right, kids Pioneers of the Inevitable has released the final version of Songbird 1.0. The improvements are many and varied, you can review the post of Yira if you give him a refresher, as it almost is the Release Candidate but with some bugs fixed. For those who still do not know, this is a music player based on the same code of Firefox and therefore free, extensible and oriented to the web.

In general, the stability of the application has improved significantly: what was once a major problem now is very difficult to happen. In addition, integration with Web services has been expanded and improved, from searches to information about our mp3 songs to a click away from your music library. Of course other features such as themes and extensions are continuing, and increasingly polished.

Personally, I recommend downloading for anyone who likes to manage your music library, regardless of the platform you use, Linux, Windows or Mac. If this is your first time you use it, you’ll be glad to know that imports and automatically synchronizes your music library from other similar applications such as iTunes, although it will take quite a while if your collection is large.
